It is of utmost simplicity ...... mon amie

As the Intrepid detective would describe himself...."You are in company of 'echu`e Poihro' the greatest detective that ever lived Mon-Amie" in Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot. Poirot who? omigosh ! you haven't heard of him? well .... then I advice ... you need go no further.

I am sort of a sucker for detective series. I idolize Sherlock Holmes. As a child ahem, which I consider myself to be for eternity I loved to crack small day to day mysteries using his deduction practices and found immense pleasure in using his approach. Then I came across the beauty of Agatha Christie's writings. The only problem with her, I found, was her constant urge to show off her hegemony over idioms and phrases. Perhaps wanted to show off her prowess over the language. sigh! Beats me.

Surely, the biggest attraction towards these novels is her utter simplistic approach to her mysteries. As if, challenging, tantalizing, teasing the reader or the viewer to solve the mystery as it unfolds in front of his eyes. Take any book for that matter, None of the conversations between the characters, Not one note/letter content not even the expressions of the characters involved is hidden from the reader. The person has access to all the information pertaining to the case. Yet the author never fails to evoke a response of utter amazement and exhilaration from the reader. A response evoked from a blend of a feeling of folly, of not out-thinking the writer and from not feeding on the little crumbs of details she provided, during the development of the story. All in all an entertaining and mesmerizing piece of literature.

Finally a word of appreciation for the director of the series on television. His finesse and solicitous, almost scrupulous approach to the matter in the book has made this series one of the longest running and most fascinating of them all, Kudos to all the Directors[As many as 10 of them], David Suchet[the person playing the Character of Poirot],Hugh Frazier and Philip Jackson [Captain Hastings and Chief Inspector James Japp] . As the Belgian Detective would say .... Le Magnifique!

A Blend par excellence

What would you get if you would mix some sugar, honey some really 'suweet ' ripe fruits in a jar and churn it? Hmm lemme guess ... diabetes? To say the least, this song gives you just that, a melodious diabetes. Which one am I talking about? its none other than "hum toh aise hain bhaiyya" from Laga Chunari Mein Daag. I hear more sighs and see more wrinkled noses than I anticipated. I agree, the lyrics do not stand upto the mesmerizing effect of the 2 great singers' voices , but I am not talking about the lyrics at all. I don't listen to the lyrics, it is the rythm and the asthetic blend of voices rendered by the two singers makes this song a treat for thy ears. On one side you have got a more dominating voice of Sunidhi Chauhan who varies the tempo, amplitude and texture of her voice to suit the nature or the mood of the song. On the other hand you have a soft soothing captivating voice of Shreya Ghoshal who I am sure took many into the realm of their deepest and darkest desires with her songs in JISM. Sherya Ghoshal has provided the more subtle feelings to the song and taken it away from being yet another Sunidhi's dhin-tadak song. The last words do go out for the music director who brought these two different singer together to weave this melody.

Kudos.

Ha ha Pawar ne Hijdon ki Fauj Tayyar ki hai

Mr Pawar and others from the BCCI should honoured for creating a team which "Excels" in losing a match ... series ..... everything abroad. This is no mean feat . It is lot of work to find a group of eunuchs, then make them stop clapping, teach them -- not to play cricket, making them models for ads and still maintaining being the richest sports authority in thw world. Then what do we people do ? we clap when these eunuchs hit a "chakka" wao ... what an irony.

I completely agree with Sharukh khan in Chak De! India, when he says " Saamne se waar karo ... Agar mard ho, Kyonki ... Hockey mein CHAKKE nahi hote", and the Indian Hockey team proved him right even against all odds.

Dont you think we should all shun cricket and watch any other game even if it is "gulli danda" ... Think it over...........
